Dear Toward Freedom Supporters and Friends,
We write to you at a time when much of the world is in crisis. At the same time, in the midst of various conflicts and tragedies, there are glimmers of hope and visions of what a better world might look like. Conveying both of these narratives has been a central mission of Toward Freedom for more than 60 years. We are asking for your support to continue this mission.
As the Obama administration rushed to bomb Syria, a global push for peace forced Washington to take a different course, allowing for diplomacy instead of war planes to pave the way forward. The NSA revelations have shed light on the machinations of the US empire, but they also provided an opportunity for people around the world to find common ground in a radical critique of Washington’s broader imperial designs. Just this fall, a united front of Latin American presidents condemned US spying on the region while also countering the militaristic direction of the US war on drugs.
Toward Freedom has followed these stories closely, reporting from the peace marches and picket lines of the varied struggles for a better world. TF writers have made connections between the plights of workers in Bangladesh and their counterparts in the US, and investigated the secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership, and more. We cannot continue this important coverage without your support. Please donate to Toward Freedom today!
In addition to funding the work of TF journalists around the globe, in the coming months we will be launching a new series of articles which make connections between the state of Vermont, where TF is based, and the wider world. This series will tackle issues such as how US trade deals abroad impact Vermont workers, how Washington’s military engagements worldwide effect Vermont economy, and how Vermont’s progressive projects for social justice and human rights can provide a model for other regions around the world. We need your financial help to make this series a reality.
As TF enters its 61st year publishing, we understand, and deeply appreciate, that it takes a community to keep this independent media voice alive, All these years, a loyal group of readers and supporters have provided crucial donations to keep TF going. Now we ask for your support once more as we continue to light the path to a better world.
Thanks for your support,
